Support ecosystems build path to leadership
Companies facing intense competition for talent can take concrete steps to attract more women to tech and encourage them on their path to leadership, according to BCG and Women’s Forum. Their survey of women and men across France, Germany, Italy, and the UK reveals that women have fewer peers and role models /advisors to guide and support them. This is a common challenge for women across industries.
Both men and women who participated in the survey mentioned the importance of their support networks in getting ahead in their careers.
The report suggests that once women are in a company, leadership needs to lay the groundwork for retaining and promoting women by investing in programs. Companies need to build a “support ecosystem” and often this requires various solutions such as formal affiliation networks, sponsorship programs, company sponsored coaching, and mentoring initiatives tailored to women’s individual needs.
