Having it all
Can you have it all?
This is a never-ending debate among women and men alike. I remember discussing this not so simple question in my twenties with friends who like me were just starting their careers. Yet, the question lingers over decades for many of us as we stroll through the highs and lows of life.
In my view, having it all is unique to you. It is about setting priorities and goals that are for you and not living up to someone else’s picture of having it all. This is a challenge in itself - let alone to try to measure up to other’s view of what this means.
Having it all also changes over time as you evolve both personally and professionally in your career. Life changes alters the picture of having it all. What matters most is being happy about the choices you define for yourself.
Former US First Lady, Michelle Obama offers another perspective on why women can’t “have it all” – at least not at the same time. A panel of women hosts on The Real, a daytime show in the US discussed this angle and offered their own perspectives, including what it is like being a working mother and ‘having it all’. See video.
