A leading voice of change at Siemens

Meiava Inspiring Career Journeys is pleased to feature Claudia Massei
Claudia Massei is an active voice for change, serving as a Young Global Leader with the World Economic Forum.
From her early days studying Aeronautical Engineering in Brazil, Claudia’s work has taken her to all corners of the globe. She was recently the CEO of Siemens in Oman where she led a team that enables economic development through digital solutions in the power distribution, smart grid, smart buildings, industrial control and automation areas. Now in Germany, Claudia has started a new challenge focused on business transformation in the industrial automation business of Siemens.
Forbes business magazine has recognized Claudia’s impact naming her as one of the Most Powerful Business Women in the Middle East for a number of years.
What is your role at Siemens?
Until recently, I was responsible for driving the businesses of power distribution, smart grid, smart buildings, control and automation, and digital solutions for industrial applications for Siemens in Oman.
In the capacity of CEO, I was committed to enabling the digital transformation in the sultanate and to contributing to its economic development. I had been the external “face of Siemens”, as well as the internal “culture champion”, taking on the role of defining our local strategy and coordinating support functions to ensure smooth operations (from sales to project execution and customer service).
How did you find your way into this industry?
After my years in strategy consulting, I decided to pursue an MBA in order to pivot my career. I wanted to continue working with businesses topics (because of my desire to continue developing my international career), but I wanted to work at a company that would value the fact that I was an engineer.
Joining Siemens – and the CEO* Program – was a no brainer to fulfill both wishes. Between the MBA and Siemens, I did a short detour and co-founded a SaaS edtech company in Brazil, Eduqo, which gave me an invaluable hands-on experience to excel in my future responsibilities.
